Restorations
What is Dental Restoration?
Dental Restoration is dental treatment to restore the function, integrity and morphology of the missing tooth structure due to caries, and/or external trauma. Dental restoration procedure includes dental fillings, crown, bridge, onlay, inlay, implant crown and implant bridge.
What is Dental Filling?
Dental filling is a dental procedure to restore your missing tooth structure due to caries or trauma with either white filling materials or silver filling materials. At RC Dental Center, we mostly use white filling materials except some special conditions.
What is the different between dental filling, crown, bridge, onlay and inlay?
When your tooth is missing a small amount of tooth structure, dental filling procedure might be sufficient to restore your tooth. However, when your tooth is missing a large amount of tooth structure, you might need crown, onlay or inlay to restore your tooth. All crown, onlay or inlay are dental restorations fabricated extra-orally while dental fillings are placed directly on your teeth. When you are missing a tooth or teeth, dental bridge would be an option to restore your missing tooth/teeth. It requires shaping down the adjacent teeth as doing crown, so bridge is splinted crowns. A special type of bridge is called Maryland Bridge, it could also help replace missing teeth, especially for the front tooth. It requires less shaping on the adjacent teeth, which means less damage to adjacent teeth.
